55% of the world’s population live in an urban area and the idea of a *pickup truck* is merely conceptual, like a submarine, zeppelin, or colossal squid. And just like these examples, an untrained interaction with a pickup truck could result in injury if not straight up death.
Thus, we approach the 1st generation Chevrolet Silverado with caution. It has been famously GM’s best-selling model since its introduction in 1999 as successor to the venerable Chevy C/K truck, amassing 12 million sales across its 4 generations. Forget Ford vs Ferrari, the movie they should have made is Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado (filmed in a dealership) with both models going head-to-head every year for best-selling pickup.
GM produced the high-performance Silverado SS variant available only in extended cab configuration. Many wanted the SS but preferred the single cab look – evidenced by the number of after-market conversions. Perhaps the ‘SS Clone’ was the model that GM should have made.
